A Helpful tip for Jan's Recipe Book Recipe's


When making my "Cajun Shrimp"(recipes found in Jan's Recipe Book) I decided to try coconut oil instead of the extra virgin olive oil and it turned out great.  I also made my "Ground Turkey Tacos" using coconut oil instead of canola oil to make the taco shells and both my husband and I agree that the coconut oil is better. They taste better and are less oily. Like with the canola make sure the coconut oil is PURE coconut oil without any additives or blends. Here's to happy cooking and happy eating!.....Jan

  1. For people who are not familiar with coconut oil or coconut milk and are not fans of coconut "fear not!" neither taste like coconut! Amazing!

  2. I also need to add that even though the coconut oil tastes better I will limit what items I cook with it because it has a lot more saturated fat than the extra virgin olive oil. Even though the information I've read on it says that its a good fat that actually can raise your HDL (good cholesterol) which can be a good thing I will still limit its uses.
